Summit State Bank is committed to preventing Financial Elder Abuse. We want our customers to be Safe, Sound and Smart.
10 Ways to Prevent Financial Elder Abuse
1. Use direct deposits for all checks.
2. Sign your own checks and do not sign "blank checks", even for family members.
3. Don't sign anything without reading it carefully.
4. Establish a relationship with the personnel at your bank.
5. Put all financial instructions in writing and be specific.
6. Keep accurate and complete financial records of all transactions.
7. Never give out credit card numbers over the phone unless you placed the call.
8. Never give out your Social Security number or bank account number over the phone.
9. Do not pay cash to persons you hire.
10. If something seems "too good to be true" (such as being told that you won a prize for a drawing you did not enter, or that someone can get you 100% return on your investment), it is probably a scam.
