The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE ACT) requires a system for registering Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) employed by federally regulated depository institutions. The purpose of this registration system is to provide the general public with access to certain information concerning MLOs, including names and employment histories.
